Imaging @ St. Joseph's Hospital
St. Joseph’s Imaging Associates
In 2014, St. Joseph’s Imaging and St. Joseph’ s Hospital entered into a joint venture for all radiology services provided by St. Joseph’s Imaging as well as the out-patient imaging services provided by St. Joseph’s Hospital. The radiologists of St. Joseph’s Imaging have been working at the hospital since 1976. In 1986, they opened their first Imaging Center in The North Medical Building. Today, St. Joseph’s Imaging operates out of eight Imaging Centers.
St. Joseph’s Imaging Associates has been providing Radiology services to the community since 1976. A Board Certified Radiologist is present at each location for immediate results. Registered and licensed technologists perform CT, Ultrasound, X-ray, Bone Density, Digital Mammography, Digital Fluoroscopy and Nuclear Medicine examinations. The staff is extremely competent, friendly and compassionate. At St. Joseph’s Imaging Assciates, we take the time to care about patients and offer a unique experience to those individuals requiring our services. All of our Imaging Centers accommodate emergency studies as needed, yet our patients are rarely kept waiting past their appointment times.
The radiologists of St. Joseph’s Imaging Associates have been the sole provider of radiology services at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center for decades. The radiologists utilize state-of-the-art equipment to provide the highest quality diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology services. In addition to the standard radiologic procedures, many specialty procedures are provided including ultrasound and stereotactic breast biopsy, ductography, discography, vertebroplasty, vascular MRI, and a wide variety of vascular and interventional procedures. The department is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology in diagnostic mammography, stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound, and MRI. You can reach the Medical Imaging Department at (315) 448-5274.

Your Best Choice for a Higher Level of Care
Through its inpatient and outpatient centers, Imaging @St. Joseph's offers patients a full range of imaging services that are state-of-the-art and, in many cases, some of the most advanced in the region. Imaging @ St. Joseph's does not use or purchase any used or remanufactured equipment, ensuring the accuracy of your images.
The Imaging @ St. Joseph's outpatient center includes two digital X-ray rooms, one 64-slice CT scanner, and three ultrasound rooms. In addition, the outpatient center now includes the area's newest digital mammography and bone densitometry (DEXA) unit to test for osteoporosis.
A full range of services, including outpatient studies not currently available at the outpatient facility, are available in the hospital to all patients. The outpatient center is seamlessly linked to the hospital via a sky bridge. The hospital has a large nuclear medicine department, which also specializes in nuclear cardiology. The interventional radiology department is ranked among the best in the nation in both outcomes and patient satisfaction. In fact, all of the hospital's imaging sections routinely rank between the 90th and 99th percentile in patient satisfaction in both the region and the United States.
Also, Imaging @ St. Joseph's offers the most advanced non-invasive cardiac CT angiography in the region. It utilizes highly advanced, state-of-the-art technology and software, operated by radiologists who are among the best in the area. In fact, the program is so highly regarded that it is a Cardiac Clinical Research Site for the United States Department of Defense.
We have a very powerful PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications System) which is deployed through our McKesson physician portal so that our images are instantly available to your physician any place in the world through our secure remote access. Our images and reports are also available to the Regional Health Information Organization (RHIO) for those patients who opt into this program. In this way, your images and results are available to any or all of your treating physicians who may not be on our medical staff and have access to our physician portal. This significantly reduces unnecessary repeat testing which is both expensive and increases your radiation exposure.
Your Best Choice for Mammography
With the addition of high-tech women's imaging technology to our line of services, St. Joseph's is the place in Central New York to get your important breast screenings. The Hologic Selenia Dimensions 2D digital mammography machine is more than just a long name; it is the first of its kind in Central New York. It provides fast, comfortable screenings and images that represent the latest in mammographic technology and superior image quality, as the sample images to the right illustrate. (The images show the same woman, same breast, and same view. Both are digital mammograms. The one on the left was taken a year ago at another imaging facility. The one on the right was taken on our mammography machine.)
Our mammography unit features MammoPad, a soft cushion that reduces discomfort during screening and enables technicians to get more detailed, accurate results. Also, the compression paddle on our unit actually flexes to conform to the natural slope of the breast during the initial phase of compression. This minimizes the discomfort often associated with mammography. In addition, patients are exposed to drastically reduced radiation levels with our groundbreaking machine. In fact, our radiation per image is about 1/3 of the dose compared to film/screen mammography and up to 30 percent less than other digital mammography units, yet we are able to produce superior quality images. It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, as the sample images certainly illustrate.
