About Our IRB
Committed to ethical standards and participant safety
At St. Joseph’s Health and St. Peter’s Health Partners, we maintain a single Institutional Review Board (SJH-SPHP IRB) dedicated to safeguarding the rights and welfare of individuals who participate in research. The IRB ensures ethical oversight and compliance with federal and state regulations, Federalwide Assurance (FWA), organizational policies, as well as Ethical Religious Directives (ERD).
The IRB operates independently, with full authority to approve, require changes, or disapprove research based on participant protection. While additional organizational review may occur, no human research can begin without IRB approval.
We also enter into Reliance Agreements for multi-site and industry-sponsored studies to streamline oversight.
All research involving human subjects under our institutions must be reviewed and approved by the SJH-SPHP IRB before initiation.
