St. Joseph’s Health Welcomes Dr. Eric Alcorn, Family Medicine Physician and Hospitalist

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—  St. Joseph’s Health is pleased to welcome a familiar face and talented doctor to our highly skilled medical team. Eric Alcorn, MD, recently completed his residency in family medicine at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital where held a leadership position as chief resident in his last year. Now, he’s joining as a Hospitalist and Family Medicine physician at St Joseph’s Physicians Primary Care, Syracuse.

As chief resident, Dr. Alcorn worked alongside faculty and staff to improve residency curriculum and mentored and educated more than 40 junior residents and medical students. He is board-certified in family medicine with training in inpatient medicine, joint injections, skin biopsies an GYN procedures.

“I could not be more excited to continue my medical career at St. Joseph’s Health where I have already cultivated professional relationships with compassionate and committed team members in the hospital,” said Dr. Alcorn. “These are the kinds of people you want caring for you and your loved ones. I’m looking forward to creating this strong rapport with patients and colleagues in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.”

Dr. Alcorn received his Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada. He earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, where he graduated with highest honors and worked as a teaching assistant in the anatomy and neuroscience departments.

Dr. Alcorn is affiliated with the American Academy of Family Physicians, The American Medical Association, The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American College of Physicians.

Outside of work, Dr. Alcorn is a big sports fan, with his favorites being hockey and baseball. He also enjoys watching movies, reading, hiking, and checking out new restaurants and breweries.
