St. Joseph’s Health Appoints New Medical Directors

Dr. Russell Silverman, Medical Director of Medical Cardiology Services and Dr. Alan Simons, Medical Director of Invasive Cardiology Services

Syracuse, NY (July 28, 2016) - St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center is pleased to announce the appointment of two new medical directors: Russell Silverman, M.D., F.A.C. C., Medical Director of Medical Cardiology Services from May 2016 through May 2017 and Alan Simon, M.D., Medical Director of Invasive Cardiology Services through May 2017.

A member of St. Joseph’s medical staff for more than 30 years, Dr. Silverman has contributed to the growth and national recognition of our cardiology service line. He completed his medical education at SUNY Health Science Center.

Joining St. Joseph’s in 1992, Dr. Alan Simon has served the Medical Director for the Cardio Lab since 2010. Under his leadership, the Cardio Lab was awarded ACE (Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence) accreditation. Dr. Simons attended New York Medical College and completed his residency and Cardiology Fellowship at SUNY Health Science Center.

In their new roles, Dr. Silverman and Dr. Simons will be responsible for setting and implementing the strategic direction with the Cardiology Network Executive Committee for the service line as it relates to achieving the goals and objectives for clinical operations. In addition to their leadership roles, both physicians will continue their private practices during this time.
