SYRACUSE, N.Y.— St. Joseph’s Physicians is pleased to announce James J. Giannone, DO, MS, FACS, FACOS has joined its award-winning General Surgery team.

Dr. Giannone is a board-certified, fellowship-trained general surgeon specializing in Foregut, Hernia, GI, and Wound Healing. He will use da Vinci robotic surgery technology, ensuring less pain and scarring, shorter hospital stays, faster recoveries, and few infections. St. Joseph’s Health has performed approximately 13,300 robotic surgeries to date and is the leader in robotic general surgery cases in Central New York. Dr. Giannone is an excellent addition to the team.

Dr. Giannone earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY and Master of Science Certification from New York Institute of Technology, New York, NY. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology (with honors) from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA. Upon receiving his D.O., Dr. Giannone completed an internship and general surgery residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia, PA. Prior to joining St. Joseph’s Physicians, he also completed an advanced GI/MIS fellowship at the Richmond University Medical Center, Staten Island, NY.

Dr. Giannone is a member of the Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons and received “Top Doctors 2020: Main Line and Western Suburbs, General Surgery”—a peer voted region award.
